NEET PG FAQs
Who conducts NEET PG?
NEET PG is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The information bulletin, registration, admit cards and results are published on natboard.edu.in.
What changed in NEET PG 2026?
The paper was reduced from 200 to 180 questions. It is divided into five time-bound sections of 36 questions each, with 42 minutes per section, for a total of 3 hours 30 minutes and 720 marks.
Can I go back to an earlier section?
No. When a section’s 42 minutes end, it closes and the next section starts. Unused time does not carry forward, so plan your pace for each section.
Is there negative marking?
Yes. Each correct answer gets +4 marks and each incorrect answer −1 mark. Unanswered questions get 0.
Who is eligible?
Candidates need an MBBS degree recognised under NMC rules, a permanent or provisional registration with the NMC or a State Medical Council, and must complete their one-year internship by the cut-off date in the bulletin (30 September for 2026).
Which courses are filled through NEET PG?
MD, MS and PG Diploma seats across India, and post-MBBS DNB and related NBEMS courses. Counselling for 50% All India Quota seats and central and deemed institutions is run by the MCC; state authorities run counselling for state quota seats.
Is AIIMS admission through NEET PG?
No. AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, NIMHANS and other Institutes of National Importance admit through a separate exam, INI-CET.
Are official question papers released?
NBEMS does not publish full NEET PG question papers. Practice is usually based on recall-based question sets and high-quality mock tests.
