How to Prepare for NEET UG
Half the paper is Biology — make NCERT your base.
Read NCERT thoroughly
Go through NCERT Class 11 and 12 Biology line by line, including diagrams and examples.
Build Physics problem-solving
Learn the concepts, then solve numericals every day — Physics needs regular practice.
Balance Chemistry
Revise inorganic facts from NCERT, practise physical numericals and organic reactions.
Practise chapter-wise MCQs
Test yourself after every chapter and note the questions you get wrong.
Take full mock tests
Sit 3-hour, 180-question mocks to build speed, accuracy and stamina.
Revise and avoid negative marks
Revise weak units weekly and skip questions when you are only guessing.

NEET UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The information bulletin, registration, admit cards, answer keys and results are published on neet.nta.nic.in.
How many times is NEET UG held in a year?
Once a year, usually in May, in pen-and-paper (OMR) mode.
Is there negative marking?
Yes. Each correct answer gets +4 marks and each incorrect answer −1 mark. Unanswered questions get 0.

What is the qualifying percentile?
To qualify, candidates generally need the 50th percentile (General), 40th percentile (SC, ST, OBC) or 45th percentile (PwBD, General). Qualifying makes you eligible for counselling; it does not guarantee a seat.
Which courses are filled through NEET UG?
MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses (BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS) across India, including AIIMS and JIPMER, along with some other courses such as veterinary (BVSc & AH) and certain nursing programmes.
How does counselling work?
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) runs counselling for 15% All India Quota seats and seats in central and deemed institutions. State authorities run counselling for the state quota seats.
Is NCERT enough for NEET UG?
NCERT Class 11 and 12 books are the foundation, especially for Biology, where many questions follow NCERT closely. Add regular practice questions and mock tests, particularly for Physics.
